BLOG: Facebook Is Free When Flying In Feb

By Jim Donovan: For the month of February seven major airlines are allowing passengers to access their personal Facebook pages inflight for free. It's all part of a promotion with Gogo Inflight Internet.

The free Facebook service will be available on North American flights for Virgin America, United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, AirTran, US Airways and Alaska Airlines. If passengers want to use services other than Facebook they'll have to pay the normal Wi-Fi rate. Those rates are usually priced from around $5 to $13 depending on the length of the flight.

Gogo Inflight is available on about 3,800 commercial airline flights a day. Gogo says that Facebook is the most accessed site in the air.
