BLOG: Consumer Reports 5 Popular Vehicles To Avoid

By Jim Donovan: This one may raise some eyebrows for those of you that are the market for a new vehicle. Consumer Reports has come out with a list of five popular vehicles to avoid. They are the Honda Civic, the Jeep Liberty, the Toyota Prius C, The Dodge Grand Caravan and The Ford Edge (V6)

The five models here may be on a lot of buyers' shopping lists, but Consumer Reports suggests that you steer clear of them. The vehicles didn't perform well in Consumer Reports testing or they suffer from subpar reliability. Either way, Consumer Reports says that there are better choices.

Some of the Consumer Reports findings?

Honda Civic: Too many shortcuts in latest redesign. Choppy ride, noisy cabin, vague steering.

Jeep Liberty: Ride is unsettled and handling is clumsy. Engine is noisy and thirsty.

Toyota Prius C: Stiff ride, slow acceleration, cheap-looking interior trim.

Dodge Grand Caravan: It's the most problematic minivan. Power-equipment and sliding-door troubles.

Ford Edge V6: Jittery ride, pronounced road noise, and distracting controls.
