Blog: 2 Days Of Excessive Heat For The Delaware Valley
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Another week, another sweltering forecast!
Weather in the Delaware Valley will reflect the far more typical steaminess of summertime in the days ahead. Particularly hot are Thursday and Friday, when temperatures soar to the mid 90's and heat indices spike to around 100 degrees at the peak of the afternoon heat. An Excessive Heat Watch (likely to eventually be upgraded to a warning) will take effect Thursday afternoon for the I-95 corridor and adjacent counties from New Castle County, DE right up to Mercer County, NJ, including Philadelphia.
The moisture-rich air mass responsible for the palpable humidity will also set the stage for brief but potentially heavy downpours. With a generally unsettled pattern in place through Thursday, anyone is fair game to see a shower or thunderstorm rumble through. Any wet weather will generally be quick-moving, but could douse you! Thankfully, the severe weather threat remains low. And a plus - those communities that DO see a little rain will at least get the chance to cool off briefly!
In the meantime, we expect to maintain some toasty warmth in the upper 80's this weekend. However, the worst of the humidity should take a break at that point.
