Blizzard Scuttles Union-Rapids Soccer Match
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Rapids' home opener Saturday against the Philadelphia Union was postponed until Sunday because of a blizzard.
Originally, the Rapids had said the game would be played no matter the weather, but the snowstorm intensified and the game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park was pushed back a day by Major League Soccer.
A travel advisory was issued Saturday for Adams County, where up to 14 inches of snow and 40 mph winds are expected. People were advised to travel only in case of an emergency.
The storm is expected to move out late Saturday and the game will be played at 3 p.m. Sunday.
