Black Friday Shopping Tips From A Savings Expert
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Shopping on Black Friday can be overwhelming for many shoppers, especially those who leave the house without a plan. A local couponing expert offers tips on the best way to save big on the most popular shopping day of the year.
"I was able recently to get leather boots that were $260. I only paid $52 for them."
Joyce K. House, also known as Miss Coupon Diva is an expert when it comes to saving money. She says smart consumers can bank big bucks on Black Friday if they develop a shopping plan.
"Step one is I have my list, so I know what Black Friday deals I'm looking at. It can get very overwhelming, because everyone's saying 'sale, sale, sale.'"
Miss Diva says know where you need to go in advance and check out sales fliers before you shop, so you can do comparison shopping before you step foot in the store.
"Take advantage of the stores being willing to offering you comparison prices so that you don't have to go to 100 stores."
She says stores stash coupons in the newspapers and online at places like BlackFriday.com, so once you put down the turkey on Thursday night, get to work.
Her final piece of advice: "You go in with the mindset, 'this is how much I want to spend,'" she says. "You must be disciplined, otherwise you'll be paying for this for the rest of the year."
