PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating a deadly overnight double shooting after a birthday party in the city's Kensington section.
The incident happened around midnight near the Liquid Room bar in the 200 block of Master Street.
Police say two men and a woman climbed into a Dodge Magnum after leaving a birthday party at the bar and were driving away when some opened fire on the car.
"There were 12 shell casings out there on the street," says Philadelphia police Captain Frank Llewellyn. "The operator of the vehicle, the Dodge Magnum, continued westbound across American Street and ended up hitting a flower pot and then crashed into a building."
Authorities say the 28-year-old driver was shot twice in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, a 43-year-old man, was a passenger in the front seat of the car. Police say he was was found up the street with multiple gunshot wounds to the arms, thigh and chest. He was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The woman in the backseat of the car was not injured.
"The female in the backseat luckily was not hit at all," Llewellyn says. "She was out here celebrating her birthday."
Police have no suspects, but are looking at surveillance video from the Liquid Bar that they hope will yield some clues.
