Birdsboro Man Arrested For Cutting Amtrak Signal Lines
WEST WHITELAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – A man was arrested on Friday afternoon after he was observed cutting signal lines from the Amtrak railway just west of the Whitford Rail Station in Exton.
James F. Martin, 40, of Birdsboro, was arrested after he was spotted by an Amtrak repair technician in the area who called police.
Martin had already cut a 75-foot length of copper wire from the lines and was in the process of cutting more when he was arrested. The cost to repair the damage done by him is estimated at $10,000.
Martin was charged with Risking a Catastrophe (felony 3rd degree), Theft (felony 3rd degree), Receiving Stolen Property (felony 3rd degree), Criminal Mischief (felony 3rd degree), and Criminal Trespassing (misdemeanor 3rd degree).
