Report: Bills Considering Penn State's Christian Hackenberg At No. 19

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Christian Hackenberg is one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2016 NFL Draft.

After an up-and-down three-year career at Penn State under Bill O'Brien and James Franklin, many expect the Nittany Lions' all-time leading passer to go in the mid to late-rounds.

However, SI.com's Peter Kings reports folks in the Buffalo Bills organization believe in Hack and could select him on Thursday night.

"Some in the NFL are convinced the Bills will consider Christian Hackenberg here, not so much because of the Penn State roots of the owner (Terry Pegula) but because some in the organization are convinced that Hackenberg, with the proper training, can be a good NFL player," King wrote.

Pegula, the Bills' owner, is from Carbondale, Pennsylvania and a Penn State graduate. He donated over $100 million to jump start Penn State's hockey program.

Hackenberg is a 6-4, 225-pound quarterback with all the measurables. However, he has a career completion percentage of just 56.1-percent in three years at Penn State, never surpassing the 58.9 completion percentage mark. In his last two years under Franklin, Hackenberg threw just 28 touchdowns to 21 interceptions.
