HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) --- A bill on its way to Governor Wolf's desk would crack down on cyber bullying of children in Pennsylvania.
The bill, passed by the Senate and sent to the governor Monday, would make cyber harassment of children a punishable offense.
Cyber harassment would involve the use of electronic communications to make repeated comments about a child's sexuality, sexual activity, physical characteristics, or mental health that are intended to cause emotional distress.
Cases involving juvenile offenders could be referred to juvenile court, or the offender could be placed in a diversion program. Adult defendants would be prosecuted in court.
