Bill Cosby Puts On A Show To Raise Money For North Philadelphia School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Temple Alum and Philly-native Bill Cosby hosted a comedy fund-raiser for a North Philadelphia elementary school on Thursday night.

Hundreds attended the Comedy for a Cause Event at Temple's Performing Arts Center.  The event raised money for the Community Partnership School.

Comedian Bill Cosby hosted the fundraiser and made clear that education is no laughing matter.

"This thing called education, it's being made to look difficult, while people squander the money."

School Head Master Eric Jones says the money raised at the comedy event will pay most of the $17,000 tuition for the 85 students for the school.

We're just about providing an alternative. The kind of alternative that kids in this neighborhood aren't able to access.

Comedians Gary Gulman and Ralph Harris, as well as students from the school also performed.
