Big Test For Union At Real Salt Lake
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It is turning into a really fun season for the Philadelphia Union as they have emerged as a true contender in Major League Soccer. They will be on the road Wednesday night, visiting Real Salt Lake.
Riding a four-match unbeaten streak, Philadelphia is currently tied for third in the Eastern Conference with 26 points. Last time out, the Union played FC Dallas to a 2-2 draw in Chester.
Real Salt Lake presents a very big challenge for the Union. They are 10-5-3 on the season and their 33 points not only paces the Western Conference, but is the highest total in all of MLS.
Making things even tougher for the Union is the fact that they will not have their top weapon in this one as leading scorer Jack McInerney is away with the U.S. Men's National team.
This is a busy week for Philadelphia. Following the match with Real Salt Lake, they will travel to Houston to battle the Dynamo on Saturday night.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Kerith Gabriel, Digital Media Manager for the Philadelphia Union, to talk about the match-up.
