Big Reception for Inception at Box Office
Inception got quite a reception at the box office this weekend.
KYW's Bill Wine reports that writer-director Christopher Nolan's dream-filled thriller, Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio earned an estimated $60-million on its debut weekend for a convincing first-place finish.
That dropped last weekend's box-office leader -- the animated comedy Despicable Me -- to second place with a still-healthy total of $33-million.
Third place went to the weekend's other new mainstream release, the live-action fantasy thriller, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, with Nicolas Cage. It took in $17-million.
And The Twilight Saga: Eclipse finished fourth, eclipsing the 1/4-of-a-billion-dollar mark with another $13-million.
Overall, it was another strong weekend at multiplexes with the industry improving on last year's totals once again.
