Bernie Sanders Supporters Search For Places To Stay During DNC In Philly
by David Madden
PILESGROVE TWP, NJ (CBS) -- We're more than a month away from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Supporters of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders are looking far and wide for accommodations.
Hotel rooms will be at a premium and, let's face it, young people don't have a lot of money. Occupy DNC Convention July 2016 has a Facebook page with 25 thousand followers.
While all of them aren't expected to make the trip, there are active efforts to find accommodations for those who do.
Enter campgrounds in the region like the Four Seasons Campground in Pilesgrove, Salem County.
"Of course we're not going to turn anyone away as long as they're not going to cause trouble on the campground," co-owner Cheryl Robinson told KYW Newsradio.
She figures there's room for up to 400 campers at her site. But there is one condition.
"They are Bernie Sanders supporters, which they sometimes want things for free," Robinson said. "So we just made sure that we got the payment up front and we're more than happy to welcome them at our campground."
She's had experience housing people attending big events in Philadelphia, with campers from as far away as Arizona staking out tents in Salem County to see the Pope last year.
