BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – Bensalem police announced the arrest of a man they say robbed a bank then fled to a nearby McDonald's, where he threw chairs at the officers.
Maurice Ray, a 22-year-old homeless man, reportedly entered the Fulton Bank at 2100 Street Road on Friday, September 21. He handed the teller a note demanding money that stated he had a gun and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, discarding some of his clothing along the way.
Bensalem police conducted a search of the area. Approximately 40 minutes later, officers noticed a cab pull up to the McDonald's on Street Road. They entered the restaurant, saw a male fitting the description of the suspect and attempted to detain him.
While the officers were attempting to arrest Ray, he became unruly and picked up a chair estimated to weigh 10-15 lbs, then threw it at the officers. The chair missed the officers but hit Bristol Township's K-9 and his handler.
Ray then threw a second chair, but officers were able to use their Tasers and managed to restrain him.
Ray admitted to robbing the bank and was sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
The K-9 and its handler were not injured.
