Bensalem, Pa. ''Salute To Veterans'' is Saturday
By Paul Kurtz
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Officials in Bensalem, Bucks County, will be honoring local veterans at an all-day event on Saturday.
It'll a "welcome home" to those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, a big thank-you to veterans of past wars, and a solemn remembrance of those who gave their lives for their country.
Event coordinator Sherri Jones says while there will be plenty of pageantry, organizers have also made sure that the service men and women have access to vital information: "the chance for them to interact with VA offices, the chance to talk to prospective employers, the chance to talk to a VFW or American Legion post."
Jones also says the wildly popular discount cards will be available.
"All it takes is for a veteran, whether they're currently serving or have served in the past, to bring their DD214 to the township building and they will get an ID card that actually serves as a discount at all the places listed."
The Salute to Veterans runs from 10am until 3pm at the amphitheatre next to the Bensalem township building.
