Bensalem Man Gets Jail Time For Snow Rage Incident

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - A 26-year-old Bensalem man who lost his cool on a cold and snowy day in January has been sentenced to jail in Bucks County for pulling a gun on a plow operator in a fit of snow rage.

Eddie Simmons was sentenced to three to 23 months behind bars after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges that included terroristic threats and unlawful restraint. A felony assault charge was dropped.

Simmons pulled a nine millimeter semi-automatic handgun on a maintenance worker in an apartment parking lot when he found six feet of snow covering his car.

Defense attorney Craig Penglase says Simmons let his emotions get the best of him.

"He is an individual who has never been in trouble with the law before, never so much as a speeding ticket. On the day in question, he was confronted with a situation, lost his temper and reacted very poorly," Penglase said.

He says Simmons is from the Outer Banks of North Carolina and has never seen that much snow.

Simmons has been jailed since the incident. He's also banned from owning a gun.
