Bensalem Home Invasion Robbery Targets 83-Year-Old Woman

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Bucks County are investigating a violent home invasion in which an 83-year-old woman was tied up.

Police were called to a house on Crafton Drive in Bensalem around 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning after the 83-year-old victim reported that a man had forced his way into her home, held a knife to her throat, and demanded that she hand over money or he would kill her.

Investigators say the suspect tied the victim's arms and legs to a nightstand, causing her to fake a heart attack.

The man then stole the woman's debit card, cut her phone lines and fled the house before withdrawing money from a nearby bank using the victim's card.

The victim was finally able to free herself using her teeth about an hour later, when she called the police.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6'0" tall, with a thin build and in his late 20s or early 30s. He has a thick beard, a mustache and prominent lips. He was wearing a brown hooded jacket and tan cargo pants and was carrying a black Tommy Hilfiger bag.

Police consider the suspect armed and dangerous and say that he may be in the Germantown area. Anyone with information is asked to please call the Bensalem Detective Division at 215-633-3719.
