Belt Buckle Saves Victim In Philadelphia Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A street corner fight erupted in gunfire Wednesday afternoon in Grays Ferry, critically injuring one person and leaving another man feeling very blessed.
Bienvenido Reynoso was working at the 8 Brothers Super Market when a fight outside sent bullets inside. Reynoso dropped to the floor for cover -- not realizing he'd been hit.
It was only when he got up that a co-worker told him his shirt had a hole in it.
"When I see I see a bullet in my belt," Reynoso says.
The buckle of his belt stopped the bullet in what could have been a deadly path.
Reynoso says he didn't feel a thing, "I'm very lucky. God protected me."
Reynoso says he knows he's been given a second chance at life.
As for one arrest in the shooting, supermarket owner Chelo Vinas says it won't put a stop to all the saturation of gunfire in the neighborhood.
"Around here it happens a lot (during the daytime). Anytime. They don't care," Vinas says.
The gunman, identified as 24-year-old Edward Lyons, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
The gun was found on a porch roof on the 1400 block of S. Newkirk Street, police say.
