Beach Boys 'Smile' Wins Best Historical Album GRAMMY
Beach Boys fans had to wait decades for The Smile Sessions box set to be released. Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, along with compilation co-producers Alan Boyd, Mark Linett and Dennis Wolfe and mastering engineer Mark Linett put a lot of work into realizing Wilson's original vision. And today, they were awarded with a GRAMMY for Best Historical Album. It's only Wilson's second GRAMMY award - his first was for "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow," which won the 2004 Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Wilson accepted the award with a brief speech, thanking the Academy.
