Basketball: Norfolk State Beats Drexel, 61-56, in Paradise Jam
ST. THOMAS, V.I. (AP) -- Chris McEachin scored 15 points and Kyle O'Quinn had 11 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks to lead Norfolk State to a 61-56 win over Drexel in the Paradise Jam on Friday.
Norfolk State (2-1) will face the Virginia-TCU winner on Sunday at 6pm. Drexel will play the loser on Saturday at 3:30pm.
Drexel (1-1), predicted to finish first in the Colonial Athletic Association this season, was held to 39 percent shooting and looked out of synch from the start. It took the Dragons more than six minutes to register their first point, and over seven to make their first field goal.
In the second half, Drexel came out strong. The Dragons had a one-point lead but Norfolk State responded with a 13-1 spurt to take a 44-33 lead.
Drexel, led by freshman Damion Lee's game-high 21 points, never got closer than four points the rest of the way.
