<em>Basketball:</em> Drexel Defeats Virginia Commonwealth, 64-60

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Samme Givens scored 18 points to lead four Drexel players in double figures in a 64-60 win over Virginia Commonwealth University on Wednesday night.

Derrick Thomas added 13 points, Gerald Colds 11, and Frantz Massenat 10 for the Dragons (19-9, 10-7 Colonial Athletic Association).

In a game that had 10 lead changes, the Rams (20-8, 12-5) tied it for the 12th time, 49-49, with 6:12 to play. Drexel responded with seven straight points to go up 56-49 on Massenat's layup with 4:19 left.

VCU brought it within one, 61-60, on Joey Rodriguez' 3-pointer with 13 seconds left. But Drexel went 3 of 4 from the free-throw line the rest of the way.

Drexel outrebounded the Rams 35-30 and scored 36 points in the paint. The Dragons shot 42 percent from the field (21 of 50), and turned it over just seven times.

Jamie Skeen led the Rams with 17 points.
