PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are searching for a man who stabbed and killed a fill-in bartender at a South Philadelphia establishment early Sunday morning.
Police responded to T-Barr's bar at 8th and Jackson Streets around 1:15 a.m. and found a man the bar owner identified as George Fox behind the bar, unconscious with chest wounds.
"It was a senseless crime. I want justice done. I want the person to be caught", said Debbie Diantonio, Fox's girlfriend.
Tom Barr, who owns the establishment, was not there at the time, but says employees told him a man wearing a hoodie came into the bar and went right up to Fox.
"The guy broke a broom and stabbed him with the end of a broomstick," Barr said. "They robbed the drawer with the night receipts. Evidently, there were 12 witnesses there last night that just filed out, not saying a word and left him."
Barr says he is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the suspect's arrest.
"I'm thinking someone in the bar knows this person," Barr said.
Police are also reviewing surveillance video to see if they can identify the killer.
