UPPER DARBY (CBS) -- An Upper Darby barber is dead after what police are calling an "assassination" Wednesday afternoon inside the shop where he worked.
Around 2 p.m. in the afternoon, a man wearing women's Muslim dress, walked into "Modern Hair Design" at the corner of Copley Road and Ludlow Street and opened fire.
"When he walked in, he pulled out a gun and announced a holdup. (He) made everybody, there were three or four people in the barber shop, made them all kneel on the ground," said Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
Authorities say none of the customers were hurt or targeted and it was clear who the gunman was after.
"The barber was not resisting. Based on the totality of everything we see, preliminarily, we believe he was targeted and it was a hit."
Chitwood says the barber was shot in the temple after giving the suspect money from his pockets.
Police say he fled the scene in an older model Toyota.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact authorities
