Bankruptcy Of Windowizards Founder Raises Flags For Watchdogs

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Bucks County officials are keeping a close eye on the troubled Windowizards home improvement company, after the founder declared personal bankruptcy last month.

Consumer protection officials have been looking into the company since it abruptly shut down for a time late last year (see previous story) and then again in February, leaving customers wondering what would happen to their windows and doors.

Company founder Harvey Goodman filed personal bankruptcy last month in Florida, but Mike Bannon of the Bucks County Consumer Protection Department says so far that hasn't had too much of an effect on the company.

"We're still taking a look at the organization and its business operations, but I'm also pleased to say that work has continued on for installations.  Their crews are out there working," he told KYW Newsradio on Thursday.

Bannon says no new business is being taken,  and refunds are also being given to customers who cancelled their orders.

Bannon is also meeting with the Bucks County DA's office about any criminal action.  According to the bankruptcy filing, one of the largest unsecured creditors is CBS Radio in Philadelphia.
