Bank Robber Arrested After High-Speed Chase Through Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man was arrested Friday morning after a high-speed chase that concluded on Temple University's campus.
According to authorities, 47-year-old Aaron Thomas robbed the Jenkintown PNC bank on Old York Road at gunpoint on Friday morning. The man then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash in a black Range Rover but was soon followed by Abington Police once they spotted the getaway vehicle.
Thomas lead police into Philadelphia down Route 1 South where he got off the Fox Street exit and rammed a police SUV.
Despite the crash, Thomas continued driving through Hunting Park and onto Temple's campus.
The chase finally came to an end with a second crash into a police cruiser, this time at the intersection of 17th and Oxford.
Police immediately arrested Thomas and recovered the stolen cash from his vehicle. Thomas is currently being held at the Abington Police Department and is facing a number of very serious charges.
One Abington police officer suffered minor injuries in the chase and is currently being treated at Hahnemann Hospital.
