Backers of Medical Marijuana Law in NJ Say Administration Still Foot-Dragging

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Three years after passage of a law designed to create medical marijuana dispensaries in New Jersey, supporters say the Christie administration has done all it can to block the measure's implementation.
"Literally thousands of sick and dying patients in New Jersey, three years into the implementation of this law, still do not have access to safe and legal medicine," says Jay Lassiter, spokesman for the Coalition for Medical Marijuana in New Jersey.
Only one of the six clinics approved by the state legislature is actually running (see related story). Besides onerous regulations and slow reviews by state health officials, community opposition has also surfaced in some locations.
Lassiter hopes the legislature will do what it can to hold the administration's feet to the fire as his group fights in court to force the state to move ahead.
