Back In The Swing
We're looking at the best day of the week (by far) to hit the links, so let's get back on the tee and make some plans:
Road Trip
If you are a Golf Association of Philadelphia member, be aware that there are still some open spots for the GAP Member Play Day event at the Country Club of Scranton on Wednesday, May 8. I'm guessing the distance (and maybe our cool spring) has something to do with the open spots, but I can assure you that the CC of Scranton is well worth the drive. The original 18-hole layout is a Walter J. Travis design, with a new nine added by Michael Hurdzan in 1988. You can register here.
Party Time
Here's one that is a little different: Deerfield in Newark, Delaware, will be holding a Glow Ball Tournament this Friday night. They tried it last year and it was a big hit. It will be a 9-hole scramble with 6 players on a team... all playing with nite-lite golf balls. 7pm registration and party... 8:00 shotgun... and an after-golf party with happy hour drink prices until 11pm. Your $57 entry fee includes a 2013 Glow Ball T-Shirt.
Register online here... or call 302-368-6640 ext 3.
For Real Players
Forsgate Country Club is gearing up for its annual R.A. Schiavone Memorial Cup Pro/Senior Scratch Event, which will be on Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1. Info: Forsgate Director of Golf Carolyn McKenzie Andrews at (732) 656-8959 or Forsgate Head Golf Professional Mark Mazzola at (732) 656-8953.
Quick 9
This one isn't an event... but Back Creek GC in Middletown, DE, is giving you a chance to get in a quick 9 and a beverage every Thursday afternoon for just $24. That's for tee times between 1p and 2pm on Thursdays. You can call the pro shop for more info at 302-378-6499.
