Baby Rescued From Hot Car Outside Target In Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Bucks County authorities say an off-duty Philadelphia police officer rescued an infant left inside a hot, locked, parked car Sunday afternoon on a lot outside a Target store.
It happened outside the Target store on Rockhill Drive shortly before 3:30 near the Neshaminy Mall.
Investigators say they got a call about a baby left inside of a car.
When they arrived, the off-duty officer, whose identity hasn't been released, was holding the little girl.
Authorities say he used a tool to pry open the door and reach the baby. They say the temperature inside the car was in excess of 110 degrees at the time.
Bensalem Police don't believe the child was in the car too long before being discovered by a passerby.
An aunt and grandmother, both from Bensalem, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The infant, who was examined at St. Mary Medical Center, was released to the custody of her mother.
