Authorities Testing Knife In Deadly Double Stabbing In Hammonton
HAMMONTON, N.J. (CBS) - Atlantic County investigators are testing a knife a resident found on her front lawn to see if it is connected to a deadly double stabbing in Hammonton.
The home, located on 12th Street, is not far from Madison Avenue where 29-year-old Ryan Patterson and his 64-year-old mother Diana Patterson were found stabbed to death last Thursday morning.
On Monday, investigators continued to search through leaves on lawns and along the curbs of 12th Street and also Madison Avenue.
State Police searched the on-ramp area from Route 54 to the Atlantic City Expressway looking for clues in the double homicide.
Wary residents are hoping for a quick arrest and the investigation has expanded to Gloucester County including Deptford, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Search warrants were obtained for storage lockers and items were seized, authorities say.
A source tells Eyewitness News Ryan Patterson made the call for help before dying of over 20 stab wounds. His mother was stabbed or slashed at least 10 times, according to the Prosecutor. The Prosecutor would not say if Ryan Patterson identified his attacker.
Following a viewing Monday, mother and son will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
