Investigators: Police Shoot Man Allegedly Stabbing Father In Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TWP, NJ (CBS) – Police in Mercer County shoot a man who investigators say was stabbing his father.
Police remained outside the 600 block of Nottinghill Lane in Hamilton Township. Crime tape is up and the investigation continued late into the evening after police shoot a man inside his parents' home.
"It's very unsettling," said a neighbor.
Police say the 36-year-old man was attacking his parents, stabbing his father with a knife when police arrived.
"The officers met the suspect, advised him several times to drop the knife while he was stabbing an individual. He did not drop the knife and the officers used force to prevent any further injury to the victim," said Hamilton Township Police Captain James Stevens.
Neighbors heard the commotion after 5 p.m. Wednesday at an end unit and called 911.
"All of a sudden cop cars passing me by. Sirens, you had to keep pulling over. By the time they got done, about 10 of them went by me," said a neighbor.
When officers arrived, the man had allegedly already injured his mother and was on top of his 55-year-old father. He had allegedly stabbed him repeatedly.
"The father was stabbed multiple times in the back, once in the head and once below the eye. And the mother had also received several wounds to her arms and hand and face," said Captain Stevens.
Police say the man and his parents were taken to Capital Health Regional Trauma Center where the father is in critical condition.
The suspect is now in police custody. There is no word on his condition.
The two officers involved have been temporarily reassigned while police conduct their investigation.
