Atlanta Hawks Sign Danny Ferry To Be General Manager
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After a flurry of media reports surfaced last week that suggested Danny Ferry was the leading candidate to be the next Sixers General Manager, Ferry signed to take the same job with the Atlanta Hawks. The Sixers reportedly discussed the job with Ferry.
"I'm very excited to be here today with the opportunity to help build something special for the Hawks and the Atlanta community," Ferry said in a press release.. "The Hawks are dedicated to creating consistent success for our fans and doing so with the right people and the right way. I look forward to an exciting future together."
Terms were not disclosed, but an ESPN report says the deal is for six years.
Current Sixers president and GM Rod Thorn is entering the final year of his contract, and the Sixers have begun to look for his successor. A report stated that Thorn is part of the process in finding his replacement.
While some reports suggest Thorn's departure as amicable, a Yahoo report says a power struggle between Thorn and Collins is the reason.
Who do you think the Sixers should hire to be their next GM?
