At Children's Hospital, A Plea For Organ Donors From Two Families Touched

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- April is "Donate Life Month," and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, two families who came together via an organ donation gathered today to share their special connection.
Ethan Moyer was just 20 years old when his life was cut short by a drunk driver two and half years ago. But just weeks before he died, he made the decision to become an organ donor.
Part of his liver went to four-month-old Josie Crawn, and the families have since become friends.
"To meet a recipient is huge -- it is surreal," notes Linda Moyer, Ethan's mother. "It has continued our healing, and we've become friends. We've come to understand through faith that this is a plan."
Jamie Crawn says her daughter is happy and healthy today because of Ethan's organ donation.
"Definitely a wonderful, wonderful experience to meet them because you can officially express your appreciation for what they have done in allowing that to happen and to be able to allow them to have happiness in their sadness," Crawn said today.
She adds that Josie is going to be a flower girl in Ethan's sister's wedding in July.
Both families hope this story will prompt more people to become organ donors.
There are more than 1,800 children across the country currently waiting for a potentially lifesaving transplant.
