Ashley Zauflik Gets Probation For Drug Possession, DUI

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The former Pennsbury High School student who lost her leg in a school bus accident five years ago has been put on probation in Bucks County after being charged with marijuana possession and DUI.
A judge allowed Ashley Zauflik to enter a program for first-time, non-violent offenders that will see her record expunged if she stays out of trouble for a year. The 22-year-old Fairless Hills resident was arrested twice in April. She has already completed the community service component of the program and has surrendered her driver's license for 60 days.
"I have no doubts that Ashley who has had the most difficult course following this horrible horrible incident will be able to comply with the court's provisions," Attorney Tom Kline said.
She underwent more than two dozen surgeries and procedures after she was run-over by an out of control bus outside the high school. A jury awarded her more than $14-million but that was reduced significantly by a judge based on a state cap. The case is expected to end up in the state Supreme Court.
