Arrest Warrant Issued In Deadly Shooting Of Northern Liberties Store Clerk
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police have issued an arrest warrant for one of two suspects involved in the deadly shooting of an employee at a Northern Liberties convenience store early Thursday morning.
On Friday, authorities announced Quasheam Richburg, 20, of the 2500 block of Ridge Drive, is wanted for the murder of Moustafa Shaker.
Shaker was gunned down at about 3 a.m. on May 26th during a hold-up inside the Trax Food Market at Front Street and Girard Avenue.
Police believe Richburg and another suspect entered the store, one of them armed with a shotgun, and confronted an employee, 50-year-old Mustafa Shaker. The suspects told Shaker to open the cash register.
"They fired two times from the shotgun round, one of which missed him, the second one struck him in the head. He was killed instantly," said Captain James Clark.
Investigators believe Shaker, who spoke little English, did not understand the suspects' demands and didn't respond.
After a brief confrontation, one of the suspects opened fire on Shakur. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It was vicious and they didn't get a dime from it. It was just senseless," Capt. James Clark said.
Shaker was a married father of two teenagers who had been working the midnight shift at the store for the last eight months to support his family.
The suspects, described as black males in their 20s wearing blue jeans and hoodies, fled the scene after fatally shooting Shaker.
"We consider him armed and extremely dangerous, so it's in the best interest of everyone involved if he would turn himself in," said Capt. Clark.
When the killers were caught on surveillance camera, police noticed two distinctive items they were wearing that could help identify them. One had on a black and white baseball cap with Armani written on it and the other had a black faced wrist watch with a red or pink ban.
The owner of the store is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrests and convictions of the suspects.
