On Saturday, October 19th, John Jones, 48, of Philadelphia, was arrested without incident by officers from the Philadelphia Police Department. Jones was arrested after police received a phone tip about where he could be located. He was transported to Plymouth Township where he was arraigned and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail.
The robbery occurred on October 10th, at about 8:50 a.m. at the 1300 block of E. Ridge Pike.
The alleged victim, an 84-year-old proprietor of a real estate business, told police that he "buzzed" two suspects into the secured building. The victim said that the suspects entered the business under the guise of seeking a home for rent and he advised them that he did not have any available rental units at the present time.
According to police, after this interaction, the first suspect displayed a dark colored handgun and pointed it at the victim. The second suspect came around the victim's desk and proceeded to tie the victim to his desk chair. While second suspect was tying up the victim, police say the first suspect reached into the victim's pocket and took all of his money.
A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled for Jones.
