PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested a Montgomery County man in connection with the murder of a 27-year old New Jersey man in West Oak Lane Friday night (see related story).
Police say 23-year-old Thomas Coffee of Willow Grove was taken into custody by police Saturday, and is being charged with murder and other related offenses for Friday night's shooting that left 27-year old Daniel Cook of Williamstown, New Jersey dead.
"They had the house surrounded and then they kicked the door in and went in and pulled somebody out, handcuffed him and put him in a car," neighbor Ronald Dirocco said, describing the arrest.
Police say Cook had driven to Philadelphia with two friends to look at an ATV that was listed for sale on the classified website Craigslist.com. But when he arrived, Coffee asked him to walk alone down the street to see the vehicle. A few minutes later, the friends told police they heard gunshots.
Cook was found with a gunshot wound to his face near Hollis Street and Walnut Lane, and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, Coffee has been in-and-out of jail for robbery and related offenses. Now, he's facing murder charges.
Police say they are still investigating the shooting.
