by KYW's David Madden
A 20-year-old Blackwood, NJ man has been charged with robbing a cab driver in the parking lot of a Deptford apartment complex two weeks ago and stabbing the cabbie in the neck as he fled. Randy James was picked up at a home in Washington Township, Wednesday night without incident.
Chief Dan Murphy credited his Deptford police department, Gloucester County detectives, and US marshals in helping to catch the suspect:
"We were able to interview him and obtain a confession from him. We were also able to obtain physical evidence. We believe that we have the knife that he used during this assault."
James (above) was charged with stabbing cabbie Shaun McDonel in the neck after taking $80 following a ride from a supermarket to an apartment complex in the Locust Grove section of Deptford.
McDonel is recovering at home in Stratford. James is held on a half million dollars bail.
