Armed Robbery Suspect Shot In Head By Philadelphia Police
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 26-year-old Philadelphia man was shot by police early Sunday morning in Hunting Park after investigators say he pulled a gun on them.
Police responding to a report of an armed robbery spotted a white Buick matching the description given by the victim. The two suspects took off in the car, with police close behind.
The driver of the car failed to make a turn near 9th Street and Hunting Park Avenue, and the vehicle ending up on the grass. The suspects took off on foot.
Police say the passenger, Daniel Rubio, pulled a gun and pointed it at an officer, who then shot Rubio in the head.
The driver, Edwin Rodriguez, was caught a short time later.
Both men were identified by the robbery victim.
Rodriguez and Rubio were facing robbery and gun charges.
Rubio was hospitalized in critical condition. He was also expected to be charged with aggravated assault on an officer.
