Area Medical Students, On Pins and Needles, Get Their Residency 'Matches,'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- At exactly 12 noon today, medical students all around the country opened envelopes containing the name of the hospital where they will be spending their residencies.
With a countdown of "three, two, one...," the 173 med students at Temple University began a new life chapter on their way to becoming doctors.
Gabby McBride won't have to travel far.
"I got Temple! It was my first choice, and I got Temple," she said. "I'm so excited right now. My heart is beating out of my chest. I've been working four years for this, and it's amazing to finally get exactly what you want -- what you've been working for."
She's especially happy because her husband, David Guez, found out he's staying in the city too, with a radiology residency at Jefferson.
"We're absolutely ecstatic that we could stay close to a nice support system and really be happy for the next five years," he told KYW Newsradio afterward. "My residency will be a long time, so we wanted to make sure we're in a place that we want to be."
Many others are moving out of the area. For them, it's time to start hunting for an apartment.
