Area Car Dealers Contribute To Nutter's School Supplies Fund For Kids

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Michael Nutter's school supply fund, only about two-thirds of the way toward its goal with two weeks to go, is getting a much-needed boost tomorrow.
Mayor Nutter's education supplies fund (see related story) has raised $305,000 in the three weeks since it was launched. The goal is $500,000, by October 15th, to buy paper, workbooks, and other school supplies for Philadelphia schoolkids.
That $305,000 raised so far includes $200,000 from the city, and a $50,000 donation from the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia, being announced tomorrow morning.
"Funding of $50,000 is not large in the grand scheme of things in the budget, but every little bit helps." says Kevin Mazzucola, the association's executive director.
The Auto Dealers Association's "CARing for Kids" Foundation is also donating 6,000 overcoats for needy schoolchildren.
