Archdiocese Of Philadelphia Announces New Superintendents

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has decided to split up the duties of superintendent of schools and has hired two in-house professionals to oversee operations of the elementary schools and high schools.
Carol Cary is the new superintendent responsible for management of the 17 high schools in the archdiocese.
She served in curriculum, instruction and professional development for high school staff for the archdiocese for the past five years.
"I'm a big believer in distributing leadership so that we have teacher leaders bubbling up within the organization and bringing forth their ideas since they are the people who work at the ground level with the students."
Jacqueline Coccia was elevated to the newly created position of superintendent for the 123 elementary schools in the archdiocese.
Coccia had been working in elementary schools programs. She now says the restructuring is complete. It's time to move forward.
"Build up these new regional schools and to support our newly designated mission schools and I see it as a year of tremendous possibility."
