Another Start For Bryzgalov As Flyers Host Florida

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers will go for a season sweep of the Florida Panthers tonight as the two teams skate at the Center.

While Florida leads the NHL's Southeast Division, the Flyers have had a ton of success against them -- capturing a pair of 3-2 victories (one in a shootout) and a 5-0 shutout in their three meetings.   The shutout came earlier this month and it is one of Ilya Bryzgalov's four March white-washings.  The Flyers red hot goalie will get another start tonight.

Last time out, the Flyers won that thrilling overtime game against the Penguins on Sunday.  The victory upped their point total to 92 as they continue to sit 5th in the Eastern Conference (3rd in the Atlantic Division).  But they have moved to within five points of the first place New York Rangers.

Good news on the injury front for the Flyers the day after it was announced that defenseman Andrej Meszaros would need back surgery and miss another 6-8 weeks.  Defensemen Pavel Kubina (upper-body) and Andreas Lilja (throat) and forward Max Talbot (upper body) are all expected back on the ice tonight.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with the Flyers beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sam Carchidi, about the match-up.
