Another South Jersey Town Rejects Proposed Medical Marijuana Facility

WESTAMPTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Another Burlington County community has said "no" to a proposed medical marijuana facility in New Jersey. And this time, the licensee is pondering going to court to get into business.
The Compassionate Care Foundation, based in Princeton, has been rejected by the land development board in Westampton, NJ, where foundation CEO Bill Thomas insists the warehouse he had in mind was perfect for his operation.
His lawyers believe the town is acting more out of fear than following the law, so he's pondering an appeal.
"We've gone through all of the town's officials, all of their boards," says Thomas. "We'll have an official denial from them in a month, when they publish the denial, and then we can take that denial to Superior Court."
He'll also look into other locations. A proposed Maple Shade location sought by another licensee was rejected a couple of months ago (see related story).
In fact, only one of the six approved nonprofits seeking to set up shop in the state has permission to do so.
