Another Guilty Plea in Main Line 'Preppie Drug Ring' Case
By Brad Segall
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Another member of the so-called "preppie" drug ring that sold marijuana and other drugs to high school and college students along the Main Line has pleaded guilty to his crimes.
Prosecutors say John Cole Roseman was part of the network that would get their drugs from Neil Scott, the man that authorities call the ringleader.
Roseman, 21, from Connecticut, admitted he sold pot on the Lafayette College campus. He pleaded guilty to "receipt in commerce" as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Defense attorney Steven Fairlie says his client was a high school basketball star who peddled the drugs to gain acceptance.
"At Lafayette he didn't play basketball -- he didn't have that identity anymore," Fairlie tells KYW Newsradio, "and when he found a cheap source of marijuana, suddenly he was a big shot."
Prosecutors say Roseman accepted responsibility and has agreed to testify against Scott and co-defendant Timothy Brooks if they go to trial.
Roseman could face up to eight years in jail but the guidelines call for much less.
