Another Arson Fire Hits High-Rise Dorm Under Construction at Temple U.
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A small fire Tuesday morning at high rise dormitory under construction on Temple University main campus has been determined to be arson. This is the sixth arson at the site in less less than a month.
Fire officlas say a small trash can fire was reported around 9:45 a.m. on the 14th floor of Temple's Morgan Hall being built at Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue. There was no major damage and no one was hurt.
Special agent Steven Bartholomew is with the the federal bureau of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms:
"ATF investigators responded to that fire and determined it was intentionally set," he said.
Bartholomew says at this point, Tuesday morning's fire is not being connected with a series of other arsons set inside the dormitory project last month (see previous stories).
"ATF fire investigators are treating this fire as a separate incident in regards to the other 5 arsons that were committed in early February but investigators are looking for any help from the public related to this fire and the other 5 fires.
