Another Day In Court For Bill Cosby
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Bill Cosby is back in a Montgomery County courtroom as his attorneys argue sex assault charges from a 2004 incident should be thrown out, as they claim the decade-plus delay in bringing charges violates Cosby's constitutional rights.
Bill Cosby's attorneys say over the course of a decade, the DA's office did nothing on this case. They say prosecutors gained a significant advantage over those ten years, for example, Cosby's fading eyesight now makes it impossible for him to aid in his own defense.
The defense claims Cosby was dragged back into the spotlight when Kevin Steele used it in what became a successful campaign for Montgomery County District Attorney.
Cosby's attorney telling the judge Cosby is "not a pawn. My client is not a meme, he is a human being."
As his lawyer and the judge discussed his competency, Cosby randomly stood up and tried to move to another seat.
Prosecutors have said in filings they re-opened the investigation when Cosby's 2005 and '06 deposition was unsealed, and when other women came forward with similar allegations.
