Another Animal Tests Positive For Rabies In Atlantic County
PLEASANTVILLE, NJ (CBS) – Atlantic County health officials say a raccoon found near a Pleasantville home tested positive for rabies.
The animal was reportedly collected from a property on Shadeland Avenue after the homeowner spotted their dog in the yard with a lethargic raccoon.
On Sept. 5, officials confirmed the animal did have rabies.
While there were no human exposures in this instance and the dog was current on its rabies vaccination, the animal did receive a booster vaccination and will be placed under a 45-day observation period.
This is reportedly the county's ninth confirmed case of rabies and the third case within the last two weeks.
