Annual Burger Brawl Hopes To Raise Thousands To Fund Computer Labs For Schools

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Chefs across Philadelphia are getting ready to throw down in a competition to see who makes the best burger and it's all for a good cause.
At the 3rd annual Burger Brawl more than 28 restaurants will compete to see who makes the best burger and these aren't your plain patty on a bun.
Last year's winner was the Capital Grille and their back serving something new.
"A wago slider with blue cheese, salt and pepper, and applewood bacon," says Rob Wasserman, owner of Rouge restaurant.
The burgers are the main dish but they're not the main reason for the event.
Wasserman and his wife started the event to raise money to fund a new computer lab at Meredith Elementary school.
"We rose about $15,000 to $16,000 for that first year. The second year, the response was so huge we raised $65,000," says Wasserman.
They are looking to top that amount this year and help other schools in the district.
"We're looking at between $75,000 to$100,000 of raising funds, which could support several computer labs," he explains.
