Andy Reid Says Next Eagles Coach Needs An "Ego Built With Shoe Leather"
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – When Jim Rome welcomed Chiefs head coach Andy Reid to his show on CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday, he mentioned that it sounded funny to introduce him as anything but coach of the Eagles. After 14 years in Philadelphia, it probably sounds a little funny to everyone.
"You enjoy that ride right there," Reid told Rome. "That's a great city and they're passionate. They're going to let you know what's good and what's bad. It's not going to be any different than you think."
Reid had would could be described as an adversarial relationship with the Philadelphia press, and a fan base that often times called for his firing. He had some advice for whomever takes over for him with the Eagles.
"You can't be sensitive. You gotta go in and you gotta be tough," Reid said. "You gotta have an ego that's built with shoe leather where you can keep yourself intact and go play and coach."
