Andrew Bynum Likely To Miss Entire Preseason, Is 'Nowhere Near Ready'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Not surprisingly, Andrew Bynum still has a degenerative knee issue (remember what degenerative means?). Not surprisingly either, it is preventing him from playing basketball.
Fox Sports in Ohio is reporting that Bynum is likely to miss the entire preseason schedule.
"One source familiar with Bynum's progress told FOX Sports Ohio that Bynum is nowhere near ready and is likely to miss the entire preseason," Sam Amico writes. "He could, however, give it a go early in the regular season, if not for the opener Oct. 30 vs. the Brooklyn Nets."
Amico also says that the Cavs have a timetable, and not to panic. Stop me if you've heard this before.
One reason not to panic is that the acquisition for the Cavs was low risk. Bynum's contract is not fully guaranteed until 2014, and would only cost the Cavs $6 million if they cut him before that. It's not like they traded their best player, a first round draft pick and two former first round picks for him, like someone else I know.
You sort of have to feel for Bynum (maybe), because having an injury prevent you from playing the sport that helps you earn a living at any age is tough, and must be especially tough at 26.
Still, it's a relief to see these updates from a city aside from our own.
